I Think I Have Bad Taste…

March 28, 2024 Be first to comment

I want to start this article by saying that I think I’m actually just open-minded and like a whole variety of things (both high and low brow). However, I’ve noticed a trend that when I watch videos about bad music, TV shows, or movies, I’ve often found myself thinking, “yeah but I really liked that,” and I started to wonder… do I have bad taste? Sorry for that run-on sentence. So, you want to know just how bad my taste is? Well, I’ll tell you one thing—I thoroughly enjoyed Morbius, which was probably considered the worst movie of the decade.

As I was watching a youtube video with Grady Smith and he was talking about how bad Dustin Lynch is and I was like… wait, what? Dustin Lynch is one of my favourite country singers. He also listed the song “23” and I took a listen, and yep, I loved it. My spotify is also filled with both obscure and popular songs considered weird or not very good. As for television shows, I’ve seen all of Riverdale, Gossip Girl is my favourite—and I am completely fine with utter trash like Netflix’s short-run show, Insatiable. I don’t have an especially refined palette for media. At this point, if somebody tells me a movie as bad I’ve seen that as a que that I should probably watch it (as long as nothing happens to animals, so thank you to www.doesthedogdie.com). I used to watch a few like that—so some are on the list, but I no longer can handle anything with fluffies being hurt.

Here are some of the IMDB 0-5% movies that I liked…

One Last Call (2003)– not the best horror ever, but I liked it. Redline (2007), actually one of my favourite terrible movies and I have seen it like 20 times. One For the Money (2012), yep – loved it, and even owned it on DVD at one point. The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008), owned this one too. The Roommate (2011) – liked this too.

I stopped looking because it’s a bit depressing how many bad things I actually enjoyed. At the end of the day, like what you like. It’s all well and good to be pretentious, but entertainment… nah, no thanks.
